- 1961: Opened as Bristol International Speedway with a 22° banked asphalt surface
- 1969: Banking increased to 36°, making it one of the steepest tracks on the NASCAR circuit
- 1992: Converted from asphalt to concrete, improving durability and grip
- 1998: Installed permanent lights, making the Bristol Night Race an iconic event
- 2000: Seating expanded to over 160,000, briefly making it NASCAR’s largest stadium
- 2007: Surface reconfigured to progressive banking to improve multiple racing grooves
- 2012: Returned to a tighter racing groove after fan feedback favored closer competition
- 2021–2023: Temporarily converted to a dirt track for spring NASCAR Cup Series races

When will I receive my tickets?
Tickets for Bristol ship two to three weeks prior to the event via FedEx, and you'll receive an email with a tracking number when they are shipped.
What am I allowed to take into the track?
Bristol Motor Speedway allows soft-sided coolers up to 14" at their largest dimension, one bag up to 18" at its largest dimension, and small bags such as a purse.
What happens if rain delays the racing?
In the event of a weather delay, the track will honor tickets for the next day. RaceAway hosts will poll the group to determine track transportation needs for the next day and then reserve track transportation accordingly.
