- 1960: Charlotte Motor Speedway officially opened, built by NASCAR promoter Bruton Smith and driver Curtis Turner
- 1961: Hosted its first World 600 (now the Coca-Cola 600), quickly becoming a marquee NASCAR event
- 1975: Installed permanent lights in the infield, laying groundwork for future night racing
- 1984: Underwent major renovations and modernizations to expand seating and amenities
- 1992: Became the first modern superspeedway to host a night race with the Winston All-Star Race under new state-of-the-art lighting

Tickets for Charlotte are e-tickets and will be sent two to three weeks prior to the event. Related package information will also be sent in this timeframe.
What am I allowed to take into the speedway?
Charlotte Motor Speedway allows one soft-sided cooler (no larger than 14" at its largest dimension), one bag (no larger than 18" at its largest dimension). Coolers and bags are subject to search at the gates.
What happens if weather delays the race?
In the event of a rain delay, the track will honor tickets for the next day. RaceAway hosts will poll the group to determine track transportation needs for the next day and arrange motorcoach transportation accordingly.
