The 2025 Daytona 500 was an exhilarating way to kick off the NASCAR season with our RaceAway guests. We spent Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, watching William Byron earn his second consecutive Daytona 500 victory to wrap up an unforgettable week. From our base at the Embassy Suites Orlando North in Altamonte Springs, we headed over for racing, fan experiences, and one very memorable Great American Race as part of our Daytona International Speedway NASCAR weekend.
Meeting Our 2025 Daytona 500 Crew
I am Jamie, your Wisconsin planner at heart, and I had the joy of kicking off the year alongside Emily, our sweet Southern voice from North Carolina, and Ashley, who quietly keeps a million details humming in the background. We met our RaceAway guests at the Embassy Suites Orlando North, about 45 miles from the track, where everyone got settled into their suites and started getting to know each other.
This was a really special mix. About a third of the group were returning RaceAway fans, and we also welcomed four first-timers from Italy and thirteen guests from the UK. Hearing accents from all over the world in the lobby, with everyone buzzing about finally seeing Daytona in person, set a great tone for the week.
On Saturday, guests who added the Xfinity Series United Rentals 300 joined us in the lobby for our 2:30 PM charter departure. We rode over to Daytona in time for Fan Zone access, driver introductions, and the evening race, which gave everyone a nice warm-up before Sunday’s main event.
Race Day: Weather, Patience, and the Great American Race
Sunday morning, all three of us – Jamie with the schedule, Emily with the sunshine, and Ashley with the backup plans – met our group in the lobby ahead of the 8:30 AM departure. We always remind guests that Daytona is about a 90-minute ride with race-day traffic, so we like to be calmly early. We double-checked that everyone’s soft-sided coolers and backpacks met Daytona International Speedway’s February 2025 size rules before we boarded. Lanyards on, bags checked, and we were on our way.
Once at the track, guests headed through the gates and into the Fan Zone, open from 10:00 AM, where they could explore displays, grab food, and soak up the pre-race buzz. At 1:15 PM, the pre-race concert and driver introductions set the stage, and by 2:30 PM, the 66th running of the Daytona 500 was underway, at least until the weather stepped in.
We did have to ride out a weather delay, but our group handled it like champs. Some hung out on the motorcoaches talking racing with their new international friends, and more than a few compared travel stories and favorite tracks. Emily wandered through the sections checking on folks, asking, “Y’all doing okay up here?” while Ashley and I kept an eye on updates and made sure everyone knew what to expect next.
When the skies finally cooperated and the cars returned to the track, Daytona delivered what it always does: tight packs, big runs, and the kind of intensity that makes the hair on your arms stand up. William Byron weathered it all, from changing conditions to strategy calls and the late-race chaos that always seems to show up, and came out on top again with his second straight Daytona 500 win.
Seeing our guests, especially those experiencing their first Daytona 500 and even their first NASCAR race ever, celebrate that finish made every minute of the delay worth it.
Guests’ Perspective: “Amazing and Awesome”
One of the standout moments for us as hosts came after the trip, when we received a long, heartfelt email from Steve P. He and his group had been with us once before, and this was their first Daytona 500. Steve thanked us for a “well-planned and amazing trip to the Daytona 500” and talked about having the chance to attend “all the festivities at the track for the whole event.” Steve said he was thankful, happy, and impressed with the package arrangements, called Emily, Ashley, and me “top-notch hosts,” and even mentioned how much they enjoyed traveling with David, our bus driver.
For the three of us, that note pretty much captured everything we try to do: clear plans, good communication, and a welcoming atmosphere where guests feel cared for from the first hello in the lobby to the last goodbye at checkout.

Wrapping Up an Unforgettable Start to the Season
By the time we rolled back to the Embassy Suites after the race, everyone was a little tired, a little weather-worn, and very happy. Guests swapped photos, compared videos of the finish, and talked about where they might go next with RaceAway this season.
For us – Jamie with the color-coded schedule, Emily with her sweet Southern check-ins, and Ashley quietly making sure nothing slipped through the cracks – it was exactly the kind of 2025 season opener we hope for: great racing, a fantastic group, and memories that will last long after the haulers roll to the next track.
If you are thinking about joining us for a future Daytona International Speedway weekend or another NASCAR stop on the schedule, we would love to have you along. We will handle the logistics so you can focus on the racing, the friendships, and every “Did you SEE that?!” moment along the way.
