Saturday’s 2025 Coke Zero Sugar 400 at Daytona International Speedway was a flat-out thriller from start to finish. We spent the evening of August 23, 2025, at the World Center of Racing in Daytona Beach, Florida, watching Ryan Blaney storm from mid-pack to steal it at the line and lock in a huge stack of playoff points. Our RaceAway group rode in from Altamonte Springs for a night race that had everything you want from Daytona in the regular-season finale, from tight packs to big runs to playoff drama, with Alex Bowman and Tyler Reddick clinching their way into the postseason.
Getting Our RaceAway Crew Ready
We based our weekend at the Embassy Suites Orlando North in Altamonte Springs, about 45 miles from Daytona International Speedway. I’m Jamie, your Wisconsin host. I like to tell our guests, “We will keep things on track so you can go full race vacation mode!”
About half our group were returning guests, which gave the lobby a relaxed, reunion-style feel. I spotted familiar faces right away and teased, “Oh, look, you came back for more Daytona drama.” New guests were folded in quickly. Within a few minutes, everyone was trading driver picks and past race stories.
Guests checked in and settled into their suites. I walked folks through the basics: updated Daytona bag and cooler guidelines as of August 2025, the schedule for the day, and options like Fan Zone access. By Friday night, everyone knew the Saturday plan and where to meet for the charter bus to the track.
Race Day: Smooth Ride to the World Center of Racing
On Saturday, guests had time to enjoy breakfast and ease into the day before we gathered for the trip to the track. Daytona is only about 45 miles away, but traffic can stretch that, so we departed with a comfortable cushion. I had everyone meet out front of the Embassy Suites for our 1:30 PM departure and sent a few friendly reminders: “Hey team, let’s roll to Daytona!”
The charter pulled up to the front door and we loaded coolers, bags, and a whole lot of race-day excitement. With a restroom on board and no glass allowed, everyone settled in for an easy ride down I-4. I moved up and down the aisle, checking in: “Everybody good? Snacks, drinks, questions?”
As of August 2025, Daytona International Speedway had specific cooler and bag policies and used cashless payments at concessions and most merchandise stands, so I made sure everyone knew what to expect before we stepped off the bus.
We arrived as the venue gates opened at 3:30 PM, giving guests time to explore and hit the Fan Zone. Those with Fan Zone access headed inside to check out displays, grab food, and soak in that pre-race buzz closer to the action. Others strolled the concourse, shopped for gear, and snapped photos of the massive tri-oval under the late-afternoon sky.
By 5:30 PM, Gretchen Wilson took the stage for the pre-race concert, and the energy really started to ramp up. At 7:00 PM, NASCAR Cup Series driver introductions had everyone on their feet, and our group settled into their seats with a clear view of the lit-up track and grandstands. You could feel that big-race hum in the air as we got closer to the green.
A Wild Daytona Finish Under the Lights
When the green flag waved at 7:30 PM for the 2025 Coke Zero Sugar 400, Daytona delivered exactly what you would expect: tight packs, big momentum runs, and a whole lot of playoff math churning in the background. I like to warn guests, “This is Daytona – blink and you will miss three lead changes and one heart attack.”
As the laps clicked down, the tension in our section climbed. The closing stretch was pure chaos in the best way. Ryan Blaney came charging from 13th over the final couple of laps, making all the right moves at exactly the right time. Our guests were on their feet, pointing and shouting, trying to keep track of who was where in the draft.
At the line, Blaney edged Daniel Suárez by just 0.031 seconds in one of the closest finishes you’ll ever see at Daytona. The win gave him his second victory of 2025 and his second career win at Daytona, plus more playoff points heading into the postseason. At the same time, you could hear people around us buzzing about the bigger picture, as Alex Bowman locked down the final playoff spot on points and Tyler Reddick also secured his place in the field. It really felt like we watched the whole playoff grid settle in one mad dash to the finish.
After the checkered flag, I reminded everyone we had an hour before our charter would roll back to the hotel. “No rush, but don’t test Daytona traffic either,” I told them with a grin. Guests took their time leaving the grandstands, grabbed a few last photos, and made their way to the bus, tired but smiling.
Guest Feedback and Jamie’s Wisconsin-Style Hosting
I take racing fun seriously and like the details smooth, but I try to keep the tone light. Hearing from guests afterward is the best part.
Rich G. sent this note after his 2025 Coke Zero Sugar 400 weekend: “We had an awesome experience at Daytona. Everything you said came through exactly. I was concerned the package would not be at the hotel as I had requested alternate shipping, but upon check-in it was there. Had a few questions upon arrival and contacted Jamie, she was most helpful, even came to our seats on Saturday with answers. I will certainly book with RaceAway again. Be sure to pass along our thanks to Jamie and the rest of the hospitality crew. Thanks again for making this a memory we won’t forget.”
That’s the kind of trust and friendship I love building with longtime RaceAway guests – familiar faces who know I will show up with answers and a little Wisconsin sass when needed.

Wrapping Up an Unforgettable 2025 Coke Zero Sugar 400
By the time we rolled back into Altamonte Springs, the bus had quieted down a bit, but the stories kept flowing—favorite passes, wild runs through the pack, and that razor-thin margin at the finish. It was everything a Daytona night race should be: high-speed drama, playoff stakes, and a group that felt more like friends than customers by the end of the night.
If you’re thinking about experiencing Daytona International Speedway for yourself, or exploring other NASCAR travel packages with RaceAway, I would be happy to host you on a future trip. We’ll keep the schedule clear, handle the details, and leave plenty of room for the fun!
