Host Recap: 2025 Cracker Barrel 400 at Nashville | A RaceAway Night Under the Lights

What a night at Nashville Superspeedway in Lebanon, Tennessee. On Sunday, June 1, 2025, our RaceAway crew headed out from Nashville for the Cracker Barrel 400 and soaked up every minute of racing under the lights. Ryan Blaney put on a show, dominating the field and grabbing his first win of the 2025 season by holding off Carson Hocevar in the final laps. With an overwhelming majority of return guests and prime seats for the action, this Nashville Superspeedway NASCAR weekend felt like a big family reunion with race cars.

Hosting Our RaceAway Group in Music City

I am Emily, your North Carolina host with a little Southern sass, and I was on site in Nashville from Saturday through Monday morning to look after our RaceAway guests. Our home base was the Embassy Suites Nashville Airport, a convenient spot for airport arrivals and a super easy meeting point for race day.

Most of our guests had traveled with us before, many from right here in the Midwest and the South, so the lobby felt more like a get-together than a check-in line. I greeted familiar faces with, “Well hey, y’all could not stay away from Nashville, could you?” and made sure newer guests were pulled right into the mix.

One of the real joys of this trip is families who come back year after year. Lloyd C. has brought his grandson to 12 events over the last 13 years, and it is always such a pleasure seeing their family on the weekend guest list.

That first evening was all about settling in, confirming details for Sunday, and giving everyone time to enjoy the Embassy Suites atmosphere before race day. Guests liked having the extra space of a suite, plus the easy breakfast and evening social time that make an already simple weekend feel even more relaxed.

Race Day Travel and Track Experience

Sunday is when things really kicked into gear. Our charter transportation was scheduled to leave the Embassy Suites at 1:00 p.m., so I asked everyone to be ready a few minutes early out front. Nashville Superspeedway is only about 30 miles from the hotel, but with race-day traffic you can figure on roughly a 60 minute drive, so leaving on time is the name of the game.

As folks boarded the motorcoach, I reminded everyone about the schedule for the day. Our charter coaches had restrooms on board, and guests were welcome to bring a beverage for the ride as long as we kept things smoke free and respectful of fellow travelers.

On the way out to the track, I walked the aisle answering questions about what guests could bring through the gates. As of June 2025, Nashville Superspeedway was operating as a cashless venue and using a clear bag policy, with one small clutch and one clear bag or clear backpack allowed, plus no coolers or outside alcohol in the grandstands. Once everyone had that squared away, the conversation turned to favorite drivers and how people thought the race might shake out. With so many veterans of past RaceAway trips, there were plenty of stories and good-natured ribbing flying around the bus.

We arrived with time to spare before the NASCAR Cup Series driver introductions at 5:35 p.m. Guests grabbed food, walked the midway, checked out the souvenir stands, and made their way to our grandstand section. By the time we settled into our seats, we had a great view of the concrete oval as the sun started to dip and the lights came up, which is my favorite kind of race night setting.

Blaney’s Big Night Under the Lights

The green flag dropped at 6:00 p.m. for the Nashville Cracker Barrel 400, and from the start Ryan Blaney looked completely dialed in. Starting up front, he set the tone early, and as the laps wore on it turned into a bit of a clinic. I kept telling guests, “Y’all, if he can stretch this fuel, this might be the story of the night.”

That is exactly what happened. Thanks to timely cautions, Blaney was able to stretch his fuel over the final 140 laps, managing the pace while still holding off pressure from behind. Carson Hocevar kept things interesting in the closing laps, really turning up the heat, but Blaney never flinched and hung on for his first win of the 2025 season.

From our prime seats, we could see it all: the restarts, the pit strategies, and the way the race changed as the track cooled off under the lights. Every caution bunched the field back up and cranked the energy in our group right back to ten. By those final laps, just about everyone around us was standing, pointing, and shouting as Blaney and Hocevar fought it out.

After the race, I reminded everyone that our charter would depart about an hour after the checkered flag. “Take your time, grab your photos, but do not let that Tennessee sunset leave without you,” I joked. We regrouped at the bus, compared favorite moments, and rolled back toward the hotel tired, a little dusty, and smiling from ear to ear.
