Saturday, August 29, 2026, gave us one memorable night at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, for the Coke Zero Sugar 400. The Florida weather even put on a show of its own, with beautiful rainbows around us and, thankfully, no rain falling on our RaceAway group. For anyone considering Daytona International Speedway NASCAR packages, this weekend was a pretty good example of why the August race has such a different personality from anything else on the schedule.
Familiar Faces, New Guests, and a Florida Race Weekend
I’m Jamie, and coming down from Wisconsin to host Daytona is always a fun change of scenery. There is just something about gathering everybody at the hotel on race weekend and realizing how many familiar faces are in the group.
The majority of our guests this year had traveled with RaceAway before at other races. I really appreciate that. When people choose to come back with us, sometimes at a completely different track, it tells me they value having the hotel, tickets, transportation, and race-day details organized for them.
We also had the chance to welcome Chris H. and his daughter on their very first RaceAway trip. I always enjoy seeing a new guest experience our setup alongside people who already know the routine. Our returning travelers tend to settle in quickly, and before long everybody is talking racing and comparing tracks they have visited.
Our home base was the Embassy Suites Orlando North in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The two-night package included Friday and Saturday accommodations, with two-room suites and cooked-to-order breakfast each morning. It gave everyone a comfortable spot to regroup before and after a long Saturday at Daytona.
The Ride to Daytona—and Those Rainbows
Race day is where my host hat really goes on.
As of our August 2026 package, RaceAway provided private round-trip motorcoach transportation from the Embassy Suites Orlando North to Daytona International Speedway aboard an air-conditioned coach with a restroom. I could take care of the race-day logistics while our guests visited, relaxed, and looked forward to what was coming.
The Florida sky kept getting our attention along the way. We had the kind of weather that makes you keep one eye on the clouds, but instead of getting soaked, we were treated to some gorgeous rainbows around us. I’ll take that trade any day of the week.
Once Daytona comes into view, though, the weather conversation tends to stop. The size of the speedway gets your attention in a hurry.
Our seats were in Frontstretch Tower 467, giving the group an elevated look at the 2.5-mile tri-oval along with the start/finish line and pit road. At a superspeedway, that wide view matters. You can watch the field develop through the turns, follow the drafting lines, and still have a good look at what is happening on pit road.
As offered for the August 2026 weekend, guests could also add a Fan Zone pass for pre-race infield and pit-road access, as well as reserve scanner options in advance.
Daytona Saved the Drama for the Finish
This was not just another Saturday night race. The 2026 Coke Zero Sugar 400 was the final race of the NASCAR Cup Series regular season, so there was plenty riding on the outcome.
Ryan Preece certainly made things interesting. After being caught in an incident earlier in the race, he worked his way back into contention and ultimately won the Coke Zero Sugar 400 in overtime. The victory was his first points-paying NASCAR Cup Series win and earned him a spot in the Chase.
From our seats, you could feel the intensity building as the race got closer to the finish. That is one of my favorite things about seeing Daytona in person. The cars run in packs, positions can change quickly, and it never feels like the outcome is settled until the checkered flag actually waves.
Then you add a Saturday night setting, the lights around the speedway, and a postseason position on the line, and you have yourself quite a race.

- Seeing so many returning RaceAway guests back for another track and another race
- Settling in at the Embassy Suites Orlando North for our two-night race weekend
- Watching the action from elevated Frontstretch Tower 467 seats with views of the tri-oval, start/finish line, and pit road
- Seeing Ryan Preece battle back and earn his first points-paying Cup Series victory in an overtime finish
Daytona gave us just about everything you could ask for: good company, a little Florida weather drama without the rain, superspeedway racing under the lights, and an ending nobody in our group was going to forget anytime soon. I sure enjoyed being there to host both our familiar RaceAway travelers and our first-timers.
