Kansas brought the heat for our RaceAway group at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kansas. We spent Sunday, September 27, 2026, at the Hollywood Casino 400, where our guests saw a strong Kyle Larson performance and an exciting late-race battle unfold in person. It was the kind of race day that makes our Kansas Speedway NASCAR packages especially fun to host: a welcoming track, a great group of fans, and plenty happening right through the closing laps.
Hosting Our RaceAway Guests in Kansas City
Our home base for the weekend was the Embassy Suites Kansas City Airport in Kansas City, Missouri. The hotel gives our guests spacious two-room suites, cooked-to-order breakfast, and a convenient location near Kansas City International Airport. It has also been a longtime RaceAway hotel for our Kansas weekends.
I met our guests at the hotel Sunday morning before we boarded our private charter for Kansas Speedway. One of the things I enjoyed most about this particular group was seeing so many familiar faces: more than half of our Kansas guests had traveled with RaceAway to another race before.
That included Jan W. and Tonya K., who joined us again for a girls’ NASCAR getaway. After the weekend, they told us how much they enjoyed Kansas Speedway and appreciated having another fun race trip together. They also mentioned that they enjoyed my racing conversations and the information I shared with the group along the way. It is always rewarding to welcome returning guests, especially when a race weekend becomes a tradition shared with friends.
A Smooth Sunday at Kansas Speedway
As of September 27, 2026, our race-day itinerary called for the charter to leave the Embassy Suites at 9:30 a.m. Kansas Speedway is about 20 miles from the hotel, and we planned approximately 45 minutes for the drive with race-day traffic.
Once we arrived, guests had time to enjoy Kansas Speedway before settling into their seats. The track is a 1.5-mile tri-oval with wide racing lanes and excellent sightlines, including views of the racing surface and pit road.
As of race day, our package also included a Pre-Race Pass. Crossover gates were scheduled to open at 11:30 a.m., giving pass holders an opportunity to access the infield before driver introductions at 1:15 p.m. The Hollywood Casino 400 was scheduled for 2:00 p.m., with 267 laps and 400.5 miles of Cup Series racing ahead of us.
Then it was time to race.
Kyle Larson controlled much of the afternoon, leading 235 of the 267 laps. But our guests still got the late-race excitement everyone hopes to see when they travel to a NASCAR event. Chase Briscoe moved ahead late, setting up a battle that Larson ultimately answered by getting back past him with seven laps remaining and going on to win the Hollywood Casino 400.
From my perspective as the host, Kansas Speedway is an enjoyable place to bring a group. The track has a comfortable, welcoming feel, and its layout makes it easy for fans to settle in and concentrate on the racing.
Highlights from Our 2026 Kansas Weekend
- More than half of our group had previously traveled with RaceAway, giving this weekend a nice mix of returning and new guests.
- Jan W. and Tonya K. returned for another girls’ NASCAR getaway and told us afterward that they had a great time again.
- Our guests stayed two nights at the Embassy Suites Kansas City Airport, with its roomy two-room suite accommodations and included breakfast.
- As of September 27, our hosted charter transportation took the group from the hotel to Kansas Speedway and back, so guests did not have to handle race-day driving and parking themselves.
- The included Pre-Race Pass gave guests an opportunity to get closer to the action before the Cup race.
- Our group watched Larson dominate much of the Hollywood Casino 400 before the race tightened up late and produced a battle for the win.
Kansas gave us another memorable weekend to put in the books. I enjoyed hosting this group, catching up with returning RaceAway travelers, meeting our first-time guests, and talking racing along the way. At RaceAway, we’ve been hosting NASCAR race trips for more than 20 years, and weekends like this are a good reminder that smooth logistics and good company can be just as important to the experience as what happens on the track.
