Jennifer’s Kentucky NASCAR Tour Notes:
Kentucky Speedway is the latest track to add a Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race to the NASCAR schedule and it is a night race which adds to the excitement surrounding this new event. The track is relatively new so it’s clean and easy to navigate. The enthusiasm of inaugural event in 2011 was overshadowed by severe traffic issues. However, we arrived to the track hours before the scheduled driver introductions and our guests enjoyed all that the track had to offer! Since then, the Speedway worked hard to correct the problem and hosted outstanding NASCAR race events!
Did I mention how fantastic the seats are here, and the parking? We sit in the Quaker State Tower which offers stadium-style seating, up high, with a full view of the track and pit road. The Tower is designed to accommodate guests with ramps so you won’t have to climb stairs unless you want to. Restrooms and concessions are easily accessed on the Tower level as well. Motor coach parking is located right out front of the Speedway, so the seating and merchandise shopping is very convenient.
We use the Embassy Suites in Louisville Downtown, which is a full-service hotel. It offers a cooked-to-order breakfast, evening open bar receptions, and all the rooms are two-room suites. We love this hotel, and our guests appreciate all that it has to offer. The Embassy Suites is also only 15 minutes from the Louisville International Airport (SDF) for those who will be flying in for the race weekend.
The weather has been warm but perfect for a night race in July. The average high temperature for July is 86 and the low is 63. If you haven’t already put Kentucky Speedway on your bucket list, you won’t be disappointed!
More Kentucky Speedway Info:
Kentucky Speedway opened in 2000 with three events on it’s schedule including a Camping World Truck race. It wouldn’t be until 2001 that the Xfinity Series would come to Kentucky. Due to a lawsuit with the tracks previous owner, the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series wasn’t added until 2011 upon settlement of that suit.
NASCAR in the Bluegrass State! Kentucky Speedway, located in Sparta, Kentucky, is one of the newer tracks on the NASCAR circuit. This 1.5 mile tri-oval race track was designed for all types of racing, but it’s the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup race that draws 107,000 fans to the state each year.
We had a great time at Kentucky Speedway. Everything ran like clockwork – RaceAway is the only way to go! We liked having someone advising us on the race details and dealing with all the traffic while we sat back and relaxed.
Kentucky was my 3rd trip with RaceAway, and I have to say what a GREAT time we’ve had at all events! I’ve been on several ‘tour packages’ and none has been as well planned as yours. I would like to compliment your hosts, Kristi and Jennifer for a job well done!
