Justin's Indianapolis Tour Notes:
"The Indianapolis NASCAR weekend is another of my favorites. This weekend is usually a road trip for me from Des Moines, and I enjoy hosting our tour at the Brickyard!
Indianapolis Motor Speedway is home of the Indianapolis 500, as well as the annual NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in July. The Nationwide Series doesn't race here, but holds a race at O'Reilly Raceway Park on the Saturday night before the Sunday Cup race at the Brickyard.
One of the neatest features of our Indy weekend is the police escort we use to get our motor coaches to the race track. There is one main road to IMS and traffic can be pretty bad, but with our motorcycle police escort, we drive right in. Usually we're running stop lights and on the wrong side of the road. No traffic worries for us!
We use an Marriott hotel that will schedule personalized airport transfers for our guests, so if you're flying into Indianapolis International Airport (IND), the hotel is easy to get to. Weather in Indianapolis can be hot on race weekends with average highs in the mid-80's. Definately bring some sunscreen.
There is a lot of history at Indianapolis. An infield Indianapolis Motor Speedway Hall of Fame Museum visit is recommended, the cost of admission is only $5 on race weekends."
More Indianapolis Information:
Indianapolis Motor Speedway, built in 1909 as an automobile proving ground, hosts two huge race events each racing season: The IRL-sanctioned Indianapolis 500 and the NASCAR-sanctioned Brickyard 400. This historic 2.5-mile rectangular speedway has an enormous seating capacity of over 250,000!
In 1994, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Brickyard 400 (which has also been called the Allstate 400 at the Brickyard) came to the Brickyard in Indianapolis, Indiana. The famous NASCAR race draws race fans from all over the world for a chance to see their favorite driver kiss the bricks.
