Indianapolis Motor Speedway, built in 1909 as an automobile proving ground, hosts two huge race events each racing season: The IRL-sanctioned Indianapolis 500 and the NASCAR-sanctioned Allstate 400 at the Brickyard (formerly the Brickyard 400). This historic 2.5-mile rectangular speedway has an enormous seating capacity of over 250,000!
In 1994, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Allstate 400 came to the Brickyard in Indianapolis, Indiana. The famous NASCAR race draws race fans from all over the world for a chance to see their favorite driver kiss the bricks.
